American English for International Students

Welcome International Students and Language School Agents!

Though the majority of our students are Filipino professionals who speak intermediate to advanced English, our school is truly international. Our international students prefer to study at our school because their classmates are Filipinos who already speak good to great English. As a result, before class, after class, throughout the day, and in different extracurricular activities, our international students are constantly speaking English.

Some of our students even say that their classmates are like teachers!

We have students and clients from all over the world:

Brazil, Canada, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Dubai, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United States of America, Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen, and of course...

Philippines - Most of our students are Filipinos who speak good to excellent English. If you want to speak better and faster, we encourage you to find a school who's students already speak English so that you can maximize your time and money!

How would I extend my visa?

You may get an application form from the Visa Extension Section located at the ground floor Annex building, Bureau of Immigration.

Fill up the form, provide a photocopy of your passport, visa, latest arrival card, valid extension of stay, if any and other pertinent documents which will support your application.

How long will it take me to extend my visa?

For non-restricted citizens, one (1) day using the express processing lane and one (1) week using the regular processing lane.

For restricted nationals, it will take three (3) days using the express processing lane and one (1) week using the regular processing lane.

What is the maximum extension of stay that can be granted to me?

For non-restricted nationals, the Chief of Visa Extension Section may grant you two (2) months for every extension but not to exceed the maximum period of one year.

For restricted nationals, the Chief of Visa Extension Section may grant one (1) month for every extension but not to exceed a maximum period of six (6) months.

For restricted nationals, the Commissioner and the Associate Commissioners have the right to approve the length of stay based on the merits of your application. After a year of stay in the country, the Commissioner and the Associate Commissioners will again be the ones to approve your stay based on the merits on your application.

Will it be necessary for me to appear personally for the extension of my visa?

You may or may not appear provided you will ask assistance from any of the accredited travel agencies or law firms of the Bureau. But if it is necessary, you will appear before the Chief of Visa Extension section or any of the Commissioners for the clarification of your application.

How many days should I allot for the filing of my extension to avoid overstaying?

You should file your application seven (7) days before the expiration of your approved stay.

MORE INFORMATION ON YOUR VISA

A visa is not required for citizens of most countries.

Except for stateless persons and those from countries with which the Philippines has no diplomatic relations, all visitors may enter the country without a visa and may stay for up to 21 days provided they have a valid passport and a ticket for onward journey. Upon arrival at the Manila International Airport you will go through the Immigration area. Once at the Immigration counter you are required to show your passport, an onward ticket and a Declaration form that you will get while in flight. The Immigration official will then stamp your passport for a 21 day visit. This is a Temporary Visitor’s Visa 9 (a) typically referred to as a Tourist Visa.

Visa Extensions

Should you desire to stay longer you may get an extension processed for 38 days the first time, then 59 days at a time afterwards for up to one year. At the one year mark you need to leave the country, even if just for a day. Please check this site for further details on Tourist visas and extensions http://www.gov.ph/faqs/visa.asp.

Visa Extension Costs

Initial 21 day stay. No charge.

38 day extension. (21 days +38 days=59 days. Processed at BOI approximately 7 days before your free 21 day visa expires. P3,030

59 day extension. Processed 7 days before previous extension expires. P4,040

Leaving the Philippines

If you stay in the Philippines longer than 6 months, as a tourist, you will need permission to leave in the form of an Emigration Clearance Certificate. To obtain the Emigration Clearance Certificate, you have to go to the Bureau of Immigration in person.

When the time comes to leave the Philippines, you must pay P750.00 at the airport before going to your gate area. BE SURE TO HAVE THIS WITH YOU WHEN YOU GET TO THE AIRPORT. If you don't have the money in Pesos you will have to exit the inner section of the airport and get the Pesos and then go back through the security screening. Many people have missed flights because they didn't have the P750.00 The departure fees may change without notice.

Thank you for uploading this info, Chris.  How are applications handled - a downloadable form somewhere, or just mail you?
